Our vision is a burgeoning community of students worldwide, connected through the writing, editing, design, and distribution of a journal that demonstrates the passion and innovation within each one of us.

This is how we do it:

  1. Student contributors become members of the larger JOURNYS community. Being published on JOURNYS is not only an outstanding recognition for a student scientist but also an opportunity to gain new insight from peers and professionals. Student editors and professional scientists help an author finalize their article for publication.
  2. JOURNYS is chapter-based, grassroots, and student-run. In addition to submitting articles, students are encouraged to start chapters at their high schools. Chapters are microcosms of the JOURNYS community, with student editors and designers. JOURNYS mobilizes contributors to perform outreach in their schools and communities, leading as student STEM advocates.
  3. We believe in openness and accessibility to all. JOURNYS is open access and web based, allowing everyone with internet access to view and discuss all articles and back issues for free.
  4. JOURNYS is not exclusive, and welcomes all youths up to age 20 to submit articles. Winners of international science competitions have been published, but so have students who are just beginning to take an interest in science. With original research, reviews, and opinion pieces all published, JOURNYS engages students of all levels.
